The slow global economy has lowered the number of animal adoptions more than any of us would like to admit. The animal organizations who are hurting the most aren’t the large national groups. It’s the small local or shelters and organizations that are really struggling right now.
I wanted a way that would allow you to directly raise money – hopefully a LOT – for your favorite animal organization or shelter, help raise awareness for animal adoption, and reward you in the process.
One thing I learned during the process of writing New Lives is that people like you and I have a tremendous amount of influence when it comes to encouraging others to adopt pets from shelters and other rescue organizations.
My goal for this contest is to mobilize a small army of ordinary people like you and me, who are passionate about giving animals the chance for a New Life. And as my way of saying thanks for spreading this message of hope, I’m going to give you a chance to win some great prizes and make a difference for your favorite animal shelter.

Unfortunately, due to logistics, the contest winner must have an addresses in the US.

Joanne, this is a great contest. My wife and I haven’t personally adopted an animal, but we work with our local shelter.
We are going to spread the word for you.
Keep fighting,
Dave

Animal mistreatment has constantly rattled me. It seems like it is becoming worse, at least where I live. But there are nevertheless generous people out there who feel like I do that we must take care of them. I hope the judicial system will match up with our way of believing about this. It is still handled as a relatively insignificant criminal offense. That’s wrong.
I have a couple of questions. Is this contest just for dogs??? I have rescued 18 cats. Also, do you have to have a video??? I do not have a video camera and at this time cannot afford to buy one. This sounds like a great contest and I would like to enter it. There is a wonderful very small spay and neuter clinic here that has all volunteers that would be great to give something to them.
Have a great day.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. The contest isn’t just for dogs. The goal is to raise awareness for all animal adoption and rescue.
Video isn’t required to enter the contest. All you have to do is briefly write about your rescue stories. (Or just one rescue story.)
You can read more about entering your story here:

Let me know if you have any other questions.
If you don’t have a camera, and still want to make a video, you can go to http://animoto.com/ which lets you make a video easily and simply! Written stories are great – this is just another option for you.
Hi Lauren. Thanks for your entry. I can tell how much you love Rubyn. What a wonderful dog.

Hi Eric
Thanks for entering the contest. Love your video – and your website, too.

Thank you, Arlene, and Forrest, for entering this great contest. I cry every time I read letters from Forrest in our local Newport Plain Talk (great people there too!). As the Florida coordinater of Rolling Rescue, I must say I agree that the Newport Animal Shelter is the best and most deserving shelter in the country. The staff is the most deeply caring, hard-working group I’ve ever met and the volunteers just can’t stop giving their all to get one dog one home and then the next and next. With this year’s 85% save rate of dogs, we just have to come up with as good a program to save the beautiful cats. This year’s focus on our feral cat program and more people coming in to adopt along with local pet store, Just Furr Pets in Sevierville, for giving us adoption space for the cats. All kudos to the best local animal shelter in the country. Please leave a comment. We can’t do it alone.
Thanks for the opportunity to put a spot light on the rescued and the rescuers. The hope is the Forrest, the Beagle, will one day be running rabbits again and not confined to his wheel chair. Thx so much for posting his story.

I don’t think my last comment went through. I am writing in support of Forrest the Beagle and the shelter in Cocke County Tennessee.
How inspiring, the work those guys and gals have done. From one of the worst shelters to one of the best — Keep it up!! And good luck with your kitty efforts. I will also try to send you some money. Sincerely, animal lover in North Carolina
Forrest’s story is a real demonstration of what can happen when both the canine & human spirit bond, they just don’t give up! Hopefully, Forrest’s story will encourage other shelters to go that extra mile to try to save those wonderful animals entrusted to their care.
great job. we love our newport shelter dog, Rocky.

Come read the story of the remarkable little rescue dog, Kiri, who inspired me to write an award winning youth novel entitled Belle’s Star. For kid’s 8-12 Belle’s Star encourages children to make positive responses to the tings that happen in their lives. http://www.inspiringrescuestories.com/2010/01/03/kiris-story/
I want to thank the blogger very much not only for this post but also for his all previous efforts. I found http://www.inspiringrescuestories.com to be extremely interesting. I will be coming back to http://www.inspiringrescuestories.com for more information.

Thank you for visiting. We look forward to having you back soon.
Food for thought, (or rather, those bits I could easily read). I am color blind (tritanopia to be exact). I mainly use Chrome browser (unsure if that matters), and much of this web page is a bit of a strain on my eyes. I know that it is not your problem really, but it would be great if you could take into account color blind visitors when carrying out your next web page redesign.
I found your site while searching google for some dog bed info. I have heard a lot of good things about Snoozer beds but I guess I’m looking for the best! Any opinions?
Thanks for the opportunity to share Harley’s Hogs for Dogs story with other animal lovers and shelter supporters. Please help us win to help our shelter by posting your comment on Harley’s story at http://www.inspiringrescuestories.com/2010/03/08/harleys-story/
Your blog is great. You have a new fan. I will come back and read more for sure.
I absolutely agree with every word the author has written in this article!
